Foster or Adopt a Dog

Adoption isn't about urgency, it's about finding the right match for both the dog and the person welcoming them home.

The dogs featured below are currently available through our shelter and rescue partners. Our team and volunteers share first-hand experiences so you're getting accurate, real-world insight into each dog's personality -- including thoughtful recommendations based on time spent with them.

Take your time, read each profile, and reach out if you'd like guidance on responsible adoption or fostering before making a decision.
Every responsible adoption or foster placement creates real impact - it's how our "Impact So Far" numbers become more than statistics. When you take the time to do it the right way, you/re changing a life in the most modern-day heroic way.

Adoption and foster applications are completed directly through our shelter and rescue partners. We're deeply grateful for the work they do every day and are honored to support their efforts by helping these dogs get seen.

Yeah, this is going to be good.

Meet DBS | Different Breed Solutions Rescue first official tag, formerly known as Whitney/ Petunia we couldn't let this sweet French bulldog mix lose out on a full life due to lack of responsible ownership or handling. Her surrender paperwork shows our main challenge is reactivity with animals. During the first assessment founders Justin and Tessa saw strong signs that this can improve with slow, structured exposure and training.

Queen Lateefa is coming with a small limp from the shelter we are addressing with immediate activity restriction, crate rest and delaying the beginning of her training program.

In the few hours she has been in the rescues care:

She has proven she is potty trained, crate trained, knows off, come, sit, down
Has shown zero signs of resource guarding
Has shown zero signs of aggression towards pre-teen aged children
She doesn't mind being washed, but loves being towel dried

Reactivity Observations:
When carried past 7 dogs she did see them but showed zero reactivity, not even a whimper or growl
When a staffy-dane walked into the room she was crated in she watched him but had zero reactivity
When walked on leash past the same dogs in crate she did react with pulling, barking, and whirlwind tail wags
When introduced to a mini-dachshund (who remained out of reach) she showed interest by jumping, growling, and barking but no lunging or attempts to bite

Common Questions

Clear information helps create responsible, lasting outcomes for dogs and the people who support them.

What is DBS Rescues foster and adoption process? Due to our dedication to finding the right home for our dogs and providing support throughout the transition period all of our available dogs will require a 30-day foster - to - adopt process.

Where are these dogs located? These dogs are currently in shelters or foster care through our trusted shelter and rescue partners. Each profile includes the organization responsible for placement so you always know who to contact for the next steps.

How does the adoption or foster process work for shelter or nonprofit partners? Adoption and foster applications are completed directly through the listed shelter or rescue partner. This ensures each dog is placed thoughtfully, with decisions made by the team that knows their process best. If you're unsure where to start, we're always happy to help guide you.

What if I'm not sure I'm ready yet? That's completely okay. Responsible adoption and fostering take time, reflection, and honest questions. If you'd like help thinking through fit, lifestyle, or readiness, reach out, thoughtful decisions are always encouraged here.

I want to help, but adoption isn't the right step right now Support comes in many forms. Volunteering, fostering, sharing profiles, attending events, donating supplies, or sponsoring programs all create real impact, even if adoption isn't part of your journey today.

These are shelter dogs our organization has personally gotten to know and are actively advocating for. All applications, meet & greet, and adoption decisions are handled directly through the shelter listed in each profile. Our role is visibility and honest, firsthand insight shared by DBS Rescue co-founders and volunteers with the dog's best interest first, to support informed decisions and lasting placements.

Please note behavior and personality can shift once a dog leaves the shelter environment. It's common to see shy or shut-down dogs blossom into confident, happy companions once they decompress with time, routine, and love!
